Senior Vice President, Data Science

Bio

Aerospace Engineer by training, been building data science teams for the past ten years across FinTech, Vehicle Tracking Solutions, and in Pharma for the past 5. My interest began with the tech and science, and seeing how that can drive significant real-world value, it’s developed into a passion. I’ve seen capability unlocks for customers from latest DS techniques and solutions, and I’m a firm believer that the world gets better through improved decision making via data analysis. Drug development and access has drastically improved health across such a wide range of diseases, discovering and improving access to life saving therapies is a core mission of mine.

What makes Norstella’s AI different?

The breadth and quality of our datasets remains unmatched, and any AI system is only as good as the data it can access. Additionally, the investment in the team mean we have an unusually wide range of skillsets and techniques available to us, both across generative and traditional data science.

What can pharma teams do now that was not possible two years ago?

There’s two main axes here. One is speed improvement. That alone makes a range of things possible that previously would have been too hard, deprioritised, or outside of capacity for teams to do. So much opportunity is left on the table due to capacity constraints, and speed through Generative AI, improved data search and visualisations can enable the same teams to do more. Two is novel capability, by connecting the dots between datasets of a size, scale, and complexity new insights and understanding appear. A great example is NorstellaLINQ, where billions of doctors notes can help clinicians and trial planners understand their patients in a broader, more complete way. Those patterns and insights cannot be discovered without AI just due to the scale involved.

How can AI accelerate the journey from pipeline to patient?

We make a meaningful impact at all points of the development cycle. We derisk clinical trials through targeted recommendations of sites, investigators, protocol, reducing failures and speeding up enrolment. We highlight the value of unreleased drugs by illustrating their sales potential and pricing. We improve planning by showing expected timelines, delay factors and how other therapies are performing. We optimise product launches through market access data, predicted lives covered over time, and highlighting access pinch-points. We have AI Assistants do the analysis for you, with targeted, customized reports backed on quality data. And with an exciting roadmap of improvements, this list is only growing over time.
